What is Khao Sok Lake?

Khao Sok National park is HUGE, it is 739 square kilometers! Nestled inside of this giant jungle is breath taking Cheow Lan Lake, affectionately called ”Khao Sok Lake”. Khao Sok Lake is around 100 kilometers long with lacy fingers called “klongs.”

How do I get to Khao Sok Lake?

Khao Sok Lake is NOT in Khao Sok Village! It takes 1 hour to get to Khao Sok Lake from Khao Sok Village. Ban Ta Khun is the closest village to Khao Sok Lake. Our office is in Ban Ta Khun, just 20 minutes from the lake.

How do I get to the Floating Bungalows?

Floating bungalows are accessed by boat only! Khao Sok Lake is in the Khao Sok National Park. Tourists are NOT ALLOWED on the lake without being accompanied by a national park guide. This means, if you want to sleep in a FLOATING BUNGALOW you need to be taken to your bungalow in a boat, by a guide.

What is a “Tour”?

All of our tours include the basics for you to get on the lake:

  • Lodging: In one of Khao Sok Lake’s world famous FLOATING BUNGALOWS
  • Boat: A traditional THAI LONGTAIL BOAT to get you to your Floating Bungalow
  • Guide: a handpicked LOCAL EXPERT GUIDE to get you on Khao Sok Lake (Note: Experience has shown us that once at a bungalow, guests want to do at least one or two other activity aside from swimming)

Can I book tours from the Floating Bungalows?

No. The raft houses are remote and have no english-speaking staff, the raft houses have no guides. A guide must travel with you on your trip. Our activities must be booked ahead of time, that is why we make package tours.

Can I just hike from the Floating Bungalow on my own?

There are no hiking trails accessible from the bungalows. You cannot get to any hikes without a boat from your floating bungalow and you cannot go into the national parkland without a guide.

What should I bring on Khao Sok Lake?

You will need a few simple necessities to enjoy your time on the lake. You can repack all of these items into a small backpack or “Lake Bag”. You can leave all of your excess baggage in our office locker while you are on the lake.

Your Lake Bag should include the following:

  • Swimsuit

    Your camera and charger (you will want to take pictures)

    Tennis shoes/sneakers (for hiking, they will get wet)

    A towel

    A change of clothes

    Toiletries

    Hat and sunscreen

    Bug spray for Hiking (there are no mosquitos on the lake, but there are in the jungle)

What is not included in my Khao Sok Lake tour?

You will need to pay the National Park Entrance Fee when you get to the gate of the national park. There, you will pay 300 baht per person to enter the park. If you would like to have beer, you can buy it at your floating bungalows or bring it with you. If you would like us to book a transfer to/from your tour, we can order you one.

How Do I book a Khao Sok Lake Tour?

We specialize in Khao Sok Lake, offering several different tours that give you the opportunity to see the lake and its surrounding areas in the way that you want to. Our tours can be broken into 2 easy categories:

Lake Tours:

Lake Tours go out onto the lake only, offering a chance to hike, kayak, go on wildlife safaris and more. They range in price based on how long you want to stay and what class of rafthouse you desire.

Lake & Land Tours:

Lake and Land Tours are named that way because they include accommodation and activities on land as well as a lake tour. These are the longest tours that we offer, some of them are as long as 4 days! These activities can include: elephant experience, Jungle Camping, Cultural tours.

How do I choose between a Private Tour and a Group Tour?

Group Tours:

  • Least expensive tours (because you share the cost of your guide and boat)

    Start at 10:15am

    1 night ONLY

    The most social option, with shared hikes, safaris and boats

    Have 2 different option in terms of rafthouse class:

    2 Day Group Safari – bamboo raft house

    2 Day Group Safari Superior – superior raft house

Private Tours:

  • Best suited for romantic occasions and family trips, because they are private and more flexible to suit your personal needs

    Can be 2-4 Days in length

    Have the option of staying in 4 different classes of raft house ranging in price and amenities: Bamboo, Modern, Superior, Luxury

    Have 4 different start times available, designed to suit your personal schedule: 9am, 11am, 3pm, 5pm
